Section 1 – GENERAL INFORMATION
The purpose of this technology, using Delivery Robots as a new efficient way of delivering things around and will help people with delivering their packages safely and in time. On the other hand, when these robots come out and start taking over the delivery industry, there might be several of security issues regarding on delivering packages safely and not in someones else’s wrong hands. From hackers trying to hack in the robots system to take control of it or someone trying to steal whats inside the Delivery Robots, these are some of the security issues that might occur when Delivery Robots start being used worldwide and by billions of people. Moreover it turns out that Delivery Robots are slowly taking place in assisting people with delivering any sort of product to their front door! Earlier this year there were six Amazon Scout delivery robots rolled out in a pilot program in Snohomish Country. The robots are designed to like a box shape and which are made by six wheeled ice chests and are delivering meals, groceries and packages to homes and also offices. As an increasing proportion of town residents expect instant or planned delivery for just about everything, these services are gaining traction (Hsu, 2019) . It looks like in the next five years deliver robots will start to take over the ‘delivery duty’ and more and more people will start using them. That will result in job cuts and delivery people should find a different job by then.
SECTION 2- TECHNICAL AND HISTORICAL INFORMATION
We’re pretty sure that anytime soon, delivery drones won’t be a thing and delivery robots will take over. The reason so many businesses are breathlessly promising it’s right around the corner is because it’s a great idea to have robots give you things whenever you want it. Drones appear to be a good idea at first because flying allows you to rapidly get to locations while avoiding barriers. It hasn’t worked so far, but that doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be robots delivering stuff. We’re pretty sure that anytime soon, delivery drones won’t be a thing. A startup called Starship Technologies has announced an independent delivery robot with headquarters in London and Tallinn, Estonia, promising to do everything a delivery drone can do (and more), except from the floor and with a realistic possibility of actually occurring. We’re pretty sure that anytime soon, delivery drones won’t be a thing (IEEE Spectrum: Technology, Engineering, and Science News, 2019).
Section 3 – IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY
We can see that there is an impact of the technology and especially in the society. Sharing a sidewalk with one of DoorDash’s delivery robots is a bit like standing behind someone on his smartphone playing Pokémon Go. The robot goes a lot faster than you want; it stops every few meters, jerking left or right, maybe spinning around, then spinning back before going on its manner (Wong, 2019). Another research shoes that college students most of the times skip breakfast because they wake up late. But with the delivery robots it turns out that the robots are delivering meals throughout the 800-acre university, representatives at the college claim. They are often seen travelling from university hotels to a couple of neighboring dorms, as well as to other campus-wide houses where learners encounter them on the way to school (Anon, 2019). Also this new technology of robots delivering things at your door step, many people will start using this type of technology as it will give interest to them as it is something new and smart. On the other hand, other people will not trust the capability of a robot delivering your stuff straight to your door step as there are many obstacles that these little machines could face before arriving safely there. From someone hacking in the robots system to from someone stealing what’s inside the robot, many people have thought of issues like this and probably will not try this new technology of delivery. Moreover, delivery businesses will most likely to have a huge success with delivery robots as they will take hire them and will obviously make big money and it turns out that the success will be more than the failure of this new technology. As this is a disruptive technology, it is a contentious theory with many critics. In other words, disruptive technologies often discard what individuals don’t like about a company and ramp up what people like, like saving cash, saving time, being happier and choosing better. The list continues. In addition, businesses that produce the disruptive technology can add additional desirable aspects to add value to the end user.
